While working at Algoma Steel in "the Soo", after his first solo pilot flight in 1978, he bought a Cessna C-180 float plane. Within one year, he was "winging it" - hunting & fishing "up north" and diving "down south" in the Bahamas.
After 20 years of engineering positions with General Motors, Algoma Steel, Alex Harvey Industries (New Zealand), DeHavilland Aircraft (Downsview), Ray abandoned the stress of high level management, became a commercial pilot and headed for the Caribbean in 1988.
"Funny, how hobbies can turn into careers?"

After 22,000 landings as an Airline Transport Pilot, Capt'n Cave gave up the adventures of flying, sailing and swimming with sharks. But he never abandoned his passion for hot rods, song writing and singing for supper. As a Canadian, his "semi-retirement" in Florida proved futile with the ban on visas after the "9-11" terrorist attack in the USA, so he loaded up his '67 El Camino and moved back to his home town, "the Soo."

"It's ironic, back in high school, Linda & I used to joke about being in the music business."
